Some Onix issues from Sweden

Spent a day last week working with the Swedish Publishers at the lovely Bonnier building in central Stockholm. Lots of interesting issues raised including a prolonged discusssion of the additional requirements for identifiers in other areas of the Onix standard.

In particular we looked at some of the distinctions between identifiers for example the comprehensive composite for series contrasted with any way identifier for an imprint. The real concern was reserved for thoughts on the need to be able to uniquely identify contributors. I talked at some length around the subject of the retailers (both on-line and bricks/mortar) increasingly looking at the contributor as the ‘promotional’ fulcrum. See my earlier post on the Amazon Connect programme for a good example of this.
