Struggling with your title information and Onix

Just releasing some new software to enable you to hold all your title information in one place and fully conforming to the Onix standard for bibliographic information. As well as holding all your title information the software also includes both a complete contributor section so you may hold just about any piece of information related to your authors. Additionally, the software enables you to hold and link to any asset related to the title and/or contributor(s) (eg, cover images, artwork, print ready pdfs, marketing documents etc etc).

The software contains full multi-language support and is currently localised for English; Swedish and Russian. The software may be easily localised for any language as contains a user configurable area for adding, modifying and displaying any language.

If you would like to learn more and to register for a demo copy then please drop me an email and I will notify you when the demo is posted in the next few days.

Salvation Army and great cushions

Who knew that they did such things let alone did them so well – this cushion from their shop on Södermalm in Stockholm – I really like it very much. If you would like to learn a little bit more about them and in particular their Fair Trade policy then you can do so here.

Snow at last

Didn’t think it would be something you needed to wish for in Stockholm in January so the lack of snow has been a little unnerving especially with the all the stories of strange weather elsewhere. As this evocative piece of writing  says on Anita Elgerot’s blog – you can’t have Spring before you’ve had a Winter. Anyway, the snow did come last night and this was the tree just off our balcony this morning.

Prince 4 Scotty

For some reason been talking about Prince a lot recently with a few people. Maybe we’re all pining for the days when the Purple One was the most consistently interesting musician around and certainly the most prolific.

Anyway, have stuck this set up for my friend Scotty who knows far more about Prince than I do. This is (I think) from the soundboard (judging by the excellent quality) is from the rehearsals for the Lovesexy tour back in 1988.

You can download here (sorry you missed it link now removed) and I will leave up for a day or two as usual.

Heavy rotation w/e 14/01/07

Had to swap laptops in last week so don’t have anything but a small portion of music but according to the play count these were the songs that were in heavy rotation this week.

1) Love Me or Hate Me – Lady Sovereign – Just been addicted to her new record on Def Jam. Can only guess what Jay-Z made of her but thank god he got it. As this post on Rare Autumn says ‘the girl make me smile’.

2) For What It’s Worth – Buffalo Springfield – Possibly my favourite Buffalo Springfield song. Makes me think of my old friend Dwyer Scullion who used to play this with his band (whose name escapes me) in a pub in Witney (near Oxford in the UK). A phenomenal guitar player.

3) No Key No Plan – Okkervil River – play it loud and I defy you not to be swept along by it.

4) Get It Right Next Time – Gerry Rafferty – I have a real soft spot for Gerry Rafferty. My Stepmother used to play whatever the album Baker Street comes from quite a bit and I really grew to like him. These days tends to be filed in the dark recesess of my music library along with my Neil Diamond and Billy Joel records which makes me a bit of dick I guess.

5) Black Republican – Nas & Jay-Z – Not yet convinced by the new Nas record but Nas & Jay-Z proves a fairly addictive combination.

Anyway, you can download here for next couple of days or so.
